PHOENIX — A teen driver and an adult passenger died Thursday after crashing into a wall in Phoenix, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. near 7th Street and Bethany Home Road when a white sedan left the roadway and collided with a block wall, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.

The driver, 16-year-old Victoria Cruz, was taken to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

The passenger, 36-year-old Reyna Murillo Martinez, died at the scene, authorities said.

Phoenix police said that preliminary information suggests speed was a factor in the collision.
