PHOENIX — A suspect was arrested in Phoenix after allegedly attempting to sexually assault a blind woman he met up with through a dating app early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Terrence Cooper was booked on multiple counts of kidnapping and sex abuse, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.

Police found the unidentified woman, who is in her mid-20s, with injuries consistent with being choked at the area of 46th Street and Baseline Road at about 1:30 a.m.,

The woman told officers she invited Cooper over to her apartment after the two had spoken on the phone several times.

When Cooper arrived, he started drinking alcohol and got verbally and physically aggressive, police said.

The victim then told Cooper she didn’t want to have sex with him, according to police.

Cooper wouldn’t leave and eventually restrained the victim, hit her in the face and choked her, police said.

The woman got away from Cooper and called for help, police said.

A patrol officer located Cooper in the area of the victim’s apartment and arrested him.
