PHOENIX — A Washington man has pleaded guilty in a child pornography case after he was arrested in Arizona, authorities said Wednesday.
Adolfo Aburto-Gonzalez, 24, was arrested after he entered the country through Nogales, Mexico, following a meet up with a 12-year-old, according to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.
Gonzalez had explicit pictures and videos of the minor, according to the release.
He pleaded guilty to one count of transportation of child pornography.
Gonzalez accepted a plea deal that will have a prison term of 10 to 12 years followed by lifetime supervision as a registered sex offender.
He will be sentenced Aug. 24.
The case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a 16-year-old nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Homeland Security Investigations in Nogales conducted the investigation.
