PHOENIX — The Buckeye Elementary School District was selected as one of 13 in the nation to be named a Learning 2025 Lighthouse District.

The American Association of School Administrators choose the 13 school districts that are all members of the AASA’s Learning 2025 Network to award “Lighthouse” designations.

A panel of independent education leaders evaluated applications based on eight key indicators:

● Social, Emotional and Cognitive Growth
● Future-Ready Learners
● Cognitive Growth Model
● Learners as Co-authors
● Diverse Educator Pipeline
● Early Learning
● Technology Enhanced Learning
● Community Alignment

The goal of the AASA’s learning 2025 Network is to help districts to implement systems of forward-leaning, engaged learning and networking practices to improve policy and student learning.

“Our ‘Lighthouse’ districts are serving as thought-leader practitioners that are implementing bold, actionable steps on behalf of the broader education community to learn from and learn with as they have taken on the challenge of Learning 2025,” Daniel A. Domenech, executive director of the AASA said in a release.

Buckeye Elementary School District superintendent Kristi Wilson has served as the superintendent of Buckeye Schools since 2013.

She also served as the AASA President during the 2020-21 school year.

Buckeye Elementary was the only representative selected from the state of Arizona.

Three school districts were chosen from Illinois and Pennsylvania. Two districts were chosen from New York and Washington.

The remaining districts were from California and Indiana.

Winners were chosen in partnership with the Successful Practices Network, a not-for-profit that works to bring up-to-date resources to schools around the globe.

We want to hear from you.
