PHOENIX — A Phoenix man was charged after 178,000 fentanyl pills, other drugs and multiple guns were found following a search, authorities said Tuesday.

Marco Antonio Medina, 29, was arrested May 2 and charged with three counts of possession of controlled substances for distribution and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.

Medina was detained after he was allegedly observed participating in a drug deal.

A car Medina was driving had 16,000 fentanyl pills and 1.4 kilograms of methamphetamine, authorities said.

A subsequent search of Medina’s apartment resulted in the seizure of another 162,000 fentanyl pills, 3.4 kilograms of meth, a kilogram of powdered fentanyl and a half kilogram of heroin, according to authorities.

A total of four handguns were also seized from Medina.

There were three outstanding felony warrants out for Medina, a convicted felon, when he was arrested, authorities said.

The Drug Enforcement Agency investigated the case with assistance from the Goodyear Police Department.
