Suspect in custody after fatal knife attack at Phoenix business

PHOENIX – A suspect is in custody after a fatal stabbing in Phoenix on Thursday, authorities said.
Officers responded to a business near 27th Avenue and Jackson Street around noon and found a man and a woman with serious knife wounds, the Phoenix Police Department said Friday in a press release.
The victims were taken to a hospital in critical condition. Jeffrey Matteson, 46, was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the woman was in stable condition, police said.
Another woman had a minor injury that was treated at the scene.
Officers identified 29-year-old Rodrigo Zamora Valenzuela as the suspect in the attack.
Zamora Valenzuela was quickly located and arrested, police said.
He was booked for one count each of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
No other details were immediately available.
