PHOENIX – A fire tore through a central Phoenix apartment complex early Friday, damaging several units and vehicles.

Nobody was injured in the incident on Maryland Avenue near 12th Street, the Phoenix Fire Department said in a press release.

All occupants were safely out of the burning single-story structure when firefighters arrived around 2:30 a.m. and went to work on controlling the flames.

Additional crews were called in because five or six cars were on fire in back of the complex.

The fire damaged four units and displaced six residents, who were being helped by the city’s crisis response team.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
