PHOENIX – The eastbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway was closed in Gilbert for about three hours after a rollover wreck on Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Traffic was diverted off the freeway at Gilbert Road, creating backups in the eastbound lanes, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Crews worked to clean up cargo and fuel that spilled after a box truck rolled over around 8 a.m. at milepost 43, near Val Vista Drive, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes for traveling through the East Valley, with U.S. 60 an option. ADOT announced that the closure was lifted just after 11 a.m.
The westbound lanes were not affected.
