PHOENIX – One person was killed early Friday in a wreck involving an impaired driver in Chandler, authorities said.

A truck and a sedan collided on Arizona Avenue between of Elliot and Warner roads around 12:30 a.m., the Chandler Police Department said in a press release.

The 59-year-old woman driving the car died after being taken to a hospital. The truck driver was hospitalized with serious injuries, police said. Their identities were not released.

The truck was heading south on Arizona Avenue and the car was turning left from Palomino Drive, where there is a light, onto northbound Arizona Avenue when the collision occurred.

Police determined that speed and impairment of the truck driver were contributing factors.

No other details were made available.

The investigation is ongoing.
