Phoenix firefighters help rescue man from open trench

PHOENIX — Firefighters successfully removed a man from an open trench this morning after he allegedly fell while walking Friday night in Phoenix.

The man was found in stable condition with chest pain approximately 14 feet down a hole near 103rd Avenue and Indian School Road, authorities said in a press release.

Fire personnel used a rope and ladder to raise the man out of the trench.

He was taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.

No rescuers were injured during the removal.
