Major I-10 closure near Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport to hinder weekend drivers

PHOENIX — Both directions of Interstate 10 near Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport are set to close this weekend for the Broadway Curve Improvement Project, the Arizona Department of Transportation said Monday.
The eastbound lanes of the highway will close from State Route 51 to State Route 143, and the westbound lanes will be closed between State Route 143 and Interstate 17.
The closures begin Friday at 10 p.m. and last until Monday at 4 a.m.
Drivers coming from the West Valley can reach eastbound Interstate 10 by detouring to the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway and to the Loop 101 and onto the Loop 202 San Tan Freeway to reach the highway.

People coming from south of the closure can reach westbound I-10 by using State Route 143 to the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway or from the U.S. 60 to Loop 101 and up to the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway or the Loop 202 SanTan Freeway to connect with the highway at 59th Avenue.
Those going to the airport can use the east entrances from Loop 202 and State Route 143.
The project will also close Broadway Road in Tempe between 48th Street and 52nd Street from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. each night from Tuesday through Friday, along with the westbound I-10 on-ramp and eastbound off- and on-ramp at Broadway Road.
