2 people riding in 3-wheeled motorcycle killed in Apache Junction crash

PHOENIX — Two people riding a three-wheeled motorcycle were killed by a suspected impaired driver in a crash on Saturday in Apache Junction, authorities said.
A man and a woman were traveling eastbound on the the three-wheeler on Superstition Boulevard when they were struck by a sedan that ran a red light at the intersection of Ironwood Drive, according to the Apache Junction Police Department.
Valerie Lewis, 63, and Daniel Sitar, 67, died in the collision. They resided in unincorporated Maricopa County west of Apache Junction.
Authorities believe the sedan driver, 42-year-old Robert Anderson of Litchfield Park, was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Anderson was taken to a hospital for related injuries. He is under investigation for possible charges.
