PHOENIX — The city of Goodyear is gearing up to host the anticipated first-ever Hop and Hops Festival the Saturday before Easter for what should be a “glowing” night.

From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Goodyear Recreation Campus on Estrella Parkway, the festival will take advantage of the late start time with a glowing DJ booth, as well as multiple glowing-egg hunts and a black light crafting station.

The inaugural event will blend traditional Easter activities to go with some non-traditional ones, like the “Hoppy Hour Beer Garden” for those 21-and-over.

The beer garden will feature Goodyear’s local Saddle Mountain Brewery, who will be serving eventgoers the “hops,” which features its popular Hop Snob brew.

For kids, more than 50,000 candy- and toy-filled eggs will fall from the Valley sky, including a handful of golden eggs that feature surprises from local businesses inside.

And of course the celebration wouldn’t be complete without a visit from the Easter Bunny, who will be onsite for pictures.

Other activities at the Hop and Hops Festival include inflatable bounce houses and egg dyeing.

To go with your hops, the festival will have 10 food trucks offering a variety of eats.

For more information, visit the city of Goodyear’s website.

We want to hear from you.
