Man convicted in Arizona ceiling fan theft scheme sentenced to 5 years

PHOENIX – One of three men convicted in a scheme to steal dozens of ceiling fans from Arizona home improvement stores and sell them online was sentenced to five years in prison on Wednesday, authorities said.
In addition to the prison term, which will be followed by three years of probation, Jesse Raul Henderson was ordered to pay $12,000 in restitution, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office said in a press release Thursday.
Investigators linked Henderson, Clint Anthony Anaya and Micah Allen Pierce to 28 thefts involving more than 70 ceiling fans worth about $28,000 at Home Depot and Lowe’s stores in Pima, Maricopa and Pinal counties.
Authorities said they listed the stolen fans on Facebook Marketplace at prices significantly lower than what the stores charge.
In December, Henderson pleaded guilty in Pima County Superior Court to one count each of fraudulent schemes/artifices and organized retail theft.
Pierce’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for next week. He pleaded guilty to the same crimes as Henderson and also faces sentencing for swapping UPC codes on products while using a Walmart self-checkout line when he was on release.
Anaya was sentenced in February to six months in prison followed by five years of supervised probation for his role in the fan scheme. He pleaded guilty to one count each of trafficking in stolen property and attempted organized retail theft.
