PHOENIX — A man nicknamed the “Razzmatazz Robber,” who was linked to four East Valley holdups at financial institutions, has been arrested, authorities said Friday.

Andres Murrietta, 41, was arrested without incident on Wednesday following a robbery at a SunWest Credit Union on Gilbert Road in Mesa, the FBI’s Phoenix Division said in a press release.

He also faces charges in connection with bank robberies at a OneAZ Credit Union on Guadalupe Road in Gilbert on Nov. 1, a First Bank on Alma School Road in Chandler on Nov. 30 and an AlaskaUSA Federal Credit Union on Juanita Avenue in Mesa on Dec. 28.

Murrietta in each instance would enter the bank and produce a robbery demand note and a paper bag for the money, authorities said. Nobody was physically injured during the robberies.

He got the nickname from driving a car that resembled the color of the Crayola crayon “razzmatazz,” authorities said.

Police departments for Chandler, Mesa, and Gilbert, as well as the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona, assisted in working the case.
