PHOENIX — Closures on Interstate 10 in west Phoenix and Loop 202 in Tempe top the list of restrictions on Valley freeways this weekend.

Eastbound I-10 is scheduled to be closed between the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway and 75th Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement improvement work, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The southbound Loop 101 ramp to eastbound I-10, as well as the eastbound I-10 ramps at Fairway Drive, Avondale Boulevard and 99th Avenue, are all set to be closed for the project.

The westbound lanes of I-10 will also be narrowed to one lane in areas between Verrado Way and State Route 85 in Buckeye from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

The eastbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway is scheduled to be closed between Priest Drive and Loop 101 from 8 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday for pavement maintenance.

The westbound lanes of Loop 202 will then be closed in the same area from 8 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday for the project.

In north Scottsdale, the westbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway is scheduled to be narrowed to four lanes, with the right lane closed, between Hayden and Scottsdale roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Sunday for pavement maintenance.

Westbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Hayden Road, Scottsdale Road and Tatum Boulevard are also set to be closed.

In southeast Mesa, the east- and westbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway off-ramps to the State Route 24 Gateway Freeway will be closed from 6 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday for construction.

The project will also close the westbound State Route 24 on-ramp at Ellsworth Road.

Near downtown Phoenix, southbound Interstate 17 will be narrowed to one lane at 16th Street from 3 a.m. to noon on Saturday for center barrier wall repairs.

The project will also narrow northbound I-17 to two lanes at 16th Street during the same time period.

Meanwhile, the highway will also be closed intermittently overnight near Seventh Avenue between 11 p.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Sunday for utility work.

In Phoenix, drivers should also be aware of a closure of 24th Street in both directions at the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday (March 26) for traffic signal work.
