PHOENIX — Five people, including a child, were injured during a shooting Wednesday afternoon at Tanger Outlets in Glendale, authorities said.

Police responded to the center of the shopping plaza near 95th Avenue and Glendale Avenue at about 2:40 p.m. and found three of the victims, Glendale Police spokeswoman Officer Tiffany Ngalula said during a press conference.

Ngalula said a young man armed with a gun got into an altercation with a group of juvenile males whom he knew. The young man also had a woman and a small child with him, Ngalula said.

The young man and at least one of the juvenile males in the other group, who also had a gun, began firing at each other, Ngalula said.

The young man, woman and small child were shot in the incident and transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Two juvenile males believed to be part of the other group also arrived at Valley hospitals with gunshot wounds as well, Ngalula said.

All five people were in stable condition, authorities said.

It is still under investigation who the victims and shooters were, Ngalula said, with no suspects believed to be outstanding.

Lockdowns at Tanger Outlets and nearby Westgate were lifted around 6 p.m. and the ramps for Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway at Glendale Avenue reopened.

No other information was available.
