PHOENIX — A man was arrested in Arizona after 143 pounds of cocaine were found during a commercial vehicle inspection, authorities said Tuesday.

Angel Martinez-Santana, 42, was apprehended Thursday after being stopped while traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 in eastern Arizona, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

An MCSO K9, Grimm, alerted officers with the Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team to the presence of narcotics inside the tractor of the vehicle.

A search located the cocaine, valued at around $2 million, inside duffel bags, according to MCSO.

Martinez-Santana was booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility on one count of transportation of narcotic drugs for sale.

The Arizona Department of Transportation Enforcement Division was also involved in the inspection.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
