PHOENIX — The Cave Creek Rodeo Days will celebrate 45 years of rodeo in the Valley with an event starting Friday night at Cave Creek Memorial Arena.

Rodeo Days will feature three days of a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association performance, as well as other activities. The first PRCA performance will be Friday at 7:30 p.m. and gates at Cave Creek Memorial Arena will open at 5:30 p.m.

The event will run at the same time on Saturday with a second PRCA performance. Afterwards, there will be the Official Cave Creek Rodeo Days Dance at Harold’s Corral that will feature a performance from Silver Sage Band.

The final day of Rodeo Days takes place on Sunday and starts with the “Mutton Bustin” at 9 a.m. from the arena. It’s one of the rodeo’s most popular events, giving youngsters ages 4-7 a chance to show off their rodeo prowess.

Participants will have the opportunity to a ride a sheep, otherwise known as a “wooley bulley”, inside the rodeo arena to get their own taste of what the professionals feel like.

The final PRCA performance will then take place at 2 p.m. to put a bow on the Cave Creek Rodeo Days.

The event had its unofficial kickoff this past Saturday with a parade on Cave Creek Road.

On Monday, the Cave Creek Rodeo Days Golf Tournament will take place at The 500 Golf Club in Glendale.
