Man arrested in Surprise for possession of child sexual abuse material

PHOENIX — A suspect was arrested in Surprise, accused of possessing hundreds of images considered to be child sexual abuse material, authorities announced Wednesday.
Robert Beckham, 65, was arrested Tuesday on 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, according to the Surprise Police Department.
The arrest came after a monthslong investigation into Beckham’s online activity.
“This arrest is a prime example of excellent police work and collaboration with our law enforcement partners,” Surprise Police Chief Benny Piña said in a press release.
“We take cases such as this very seriously as we work to ensure the safety of our community.”
Beckham was booked into Maricopa County Jail.
