PHOENIX — The Cave Creek Museum will open the Arizona Gold Mining Experience event to the public on March 12, exploring the historical significance of Arizona’s gold mining industry.
The experience begins indoors but moves from location to location outside as attendees will be guided through mine shafts, tramways, a 10-stamp mill and the “Long Tom” sluice.
While these exhibits are always on display at the museum, they will be operated on the second Saturday of each month.
A second event for the month is scheduled for March 26.
Visitors will also be guided through a blacksmith shop and demonstrations of panning to show the various skills associated with the gold production industry.
It begins at 11:00 a.m. with check-ins at 10:30 a.m. It will be limited to the first 90 people and guests must reserve tickets in advance. Tickets are $7 while children under 12 will be admitted for free.
The event takes roughly one hour and 15 minutes and is not ADA compliant.
