PHOENIX — Food City on Friday opened its first Starbucks café location in Arizona in the West Valley, serving its beverages and pastries in the store with a long-standing reputation of service to the Hispanic community.

The No. 1 request customers presented to the Food City located at 91st Avenue and Thomas Road was a Starbucks café addition, Mike Solis, director of operations for Food City, said in a press release.

“We love being able to make popular requests like this one a reality,” Solis said in the release.

The newest addition to the grocery store is something to celebrate, said Lynn Engelke, director of Starbucks for Bashas’ and Food City.

Through the implementation of the location, more than 20 jobs were added and hiring remains ongoing, Engelke said.
