PHOENIX – Police in Glendale arrested two suspects, including a minor, accused of fatally shooting a man at a restaurant.
Marzeal Lewis, 18, and a 16-year-old male were booked on suspicion of first-degree murder and armed robbery, the Glendale Police Department said in a press release late Thursday.
Guadalupe Estevan Zamora was shot multiple times at a restaurant patio near 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road on Wednesday night. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Investigators said Zamora had been sitting with others on the patio when the suspects came up to him. Each of the accused pointed a gun at Zamora and tried to rob him, police said.
When Lewis began to hit Zamora with a gun, the weapon went off. The minor suspect then fired three times, hitting Zamora twice. Lewis was hit once, but he was able to flee the scene with the other teenager.
Glendale Police identified them the next day and took them into custody.
The second suspect’s name has not been released because he is a minor.
