Rewards totaling $16,000 offered in shooting of Arizona tribal police officer

PHOENIX – Yavapai Silent Witness said Thursday it was increasing the reward for information leading to an arrest in the shooting of a tribal police officer earlier this month to $11,000, bringing the total offered in the case to $16,000.
Yavapai-Apache Police Sgt. Preston Brogdon was shot in the abdomen while responding to a shots fired call near State Route 260 and Cherry Creek Road in Camp Verde on Feb. 9.
He underwent multiple surgeries and has since been moved out of the intensive care into a rehabilitation facility.
Yavapai Silent Witness bumped up its reward Thursday by $1,000.

“When one of our peacekeepers is viciously attacked like this, we as a community must come together and aid law enforcement with any information that can get these violent criminals off our streets,” Yavapai Silent Witness said in a social media post.
“In doing so, we send a message to these violent offenders that there is no place to hide, and equally important we send a message to our law enforcement professionals that we are thankful for them and we got their backs.”

The FBI is also offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man the agency said is a suspect in the case. A warrant for the arrest of 39-year-old Valentin Rodriguez was issued two days after the shooting.
Rodriguez is described as a 5-foot, 9-inch Hispanic male who weighs around 160 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.
