PHOENIX — Visit Mesa has launched a digital passport that will guide people to local businesses where they can enjoy a beer or a brew and earn some prizes along the way.

The City Limitless Beers & Brews Tour includes 12 breweries, taprooms, sports bars and coffee shops.

The free incentive program has visitors and locals check-in at each location from their smartphone to earn prizes, according to a press release, while select businesses also have discounts and seasonal offers available to those who take part.

People can earn stickers, coasters, bottle openers and a t-shirt for participating, while a monthly sweepstakes will award a medal to a lucky patron that visits all locations on the passport and tags #VisitMesaBeersBrews on Instagram on Facebook.

Visit Mesa said the passport was launched during the city’s popular season to enhance tourism recovery efforts.

“Our support for small business will never wane,” Visit Mesa President and CEO Marc Garcia said in the release. “We are developing programs like this one to strengthen pillars of our industry, such as bar and restaurant owners, as we gear up for the pre-pandemic demand that is already occurring for our destination.

“We know that locals and visitors from across the state will be just as interested in checking out Mesa’s burgeoning craft beverage scene. For Visit Mesa, it’s just as important to attract a visitor from the West Valley as it is from the Midwest.”

Check-ins are verified by a business’ four-digit code that is given out upon arrival and must be completed within 30 days from the starting date to be eligible for a prize, according to the release.
