First & Last, a modern American restaurant, debuts on Phoenix’s Roosevelt Row

Feb 23, 2022, 4:35 AM

PHOENIX – First & Last, a new modern American concept, debuted earlier this month on Roosevelt Row in downtown Phoenix.

The husband and wife team of Robb and Ashley Hammond opened the restaurant in the Gold Spot building on the northeast corner of Third Avenue and Roosevelt Street.

The 3,000-plus-square-foot space includes an open kitchen, a chef’s counter and a patio, with indoor and outdoor seating for 150.

The venue also has a private second-floor space that can be booked for groups up to 50 people.

Robb is the executive chef for First & Last and puts together a rotating menu that makes use of fresh seasonal ingredients.

“My goal is to bring the best produce and products to plates each day, along with introducing a new dish to the menu weekly,” he said in a press release.

“We’ve built a passionate and talented culinary team and I look forward to working with them and having complete creative freedom.”

Ashley is the restaurant’s general manager and runs the daily front-of-house operations.

“I’ve wanted to start a restaurant for as long as I can remember,” she said in the release.

“When we found the perfect space in a neighborhood that we love, it almost was too good be true.”

First & Last is open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesdays-Sundays, with happy hour daily from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
