PHOENIX — A woman and her two sons wanted for homicide in Washington were arrested in Arizona on Monday, authorities said.
The U.S. Marshals Service in a press release said 55-year-old Brenda Rasmussen, 31-year-old Danny Jones and 34-year-old Andrew Jones were booked into the Mohave County Detention Center for extradition back to Washington to face charges in the murder of the woman’s husband, Jerry Rasmussen in September.
Rasmussen initially reported her husband as a missing person to the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office in eastern Washington, authorities said.
A cadaver dog during the investigation alerted authorities to a newly installed shed on the property, with a search warrant issued in December revealing a decomposing body buried in the concrete matching the victim.
“The investigation in the murder of Jerry Rasmussen revealed that Mr. Rasmussen was shot once in the head prior to being buried under a shed,” District of Arizona U.S. Marshal David Gonzales said in the release.
The three suspects fled Washington state and a warrant was issued for each, authorities said.
U.S. Marshals received information on Jan. 28 that Rasmussen and her two sons were possibly hiding in Mohave County, according to the release, with authorities then attempting to locate the three people through surveillance.
Rasmussen and her two sons were arrested after search warrants were served on a place of business and residence associated with the suspects, authorities said.
