PHOENIX — A 27-year-old Arizona man was sentenced to more than four years behind bars for involuntary manslaughter in a rollover crash, authorities said.
Travis Ray Preston of Tuba City was convicted by a federal grand jury last summer and sentenced on Monday to 51 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Arizona said in a press release.
Preston on Sept. 18, 2016, was driving while under the influence of alcohol at a high rate of speed near Tuba City, authorities said.
He lost control of the vehicle and it rolled multiple times off the road, authorities said, killing one of the three passengers in the car.
Preston’s blood alcohol content was at least .096, authorities said, and the vehicle was traveling 69 miles per hour before the accident.
Investigation of the case was conducted by the Navajo Police Department, with both Preston and the victim enrolled as members of the Navajo Nation, authorities said.
