18-year-old accused of spray-painting obscenities, slurs on vehicles in Avondale

PHOENIX – A young man was arrested this week for allegedly spray-painting several vehicles in the West Valley with obscenities and slurs, authorities said.

The Avondale Police Department said Benjamin Liang, 18, admitted to the vandalism, which occurred Jan. 27-31.

Liang was booked Wednesday into Avondale City Jail on criminal damage, disorderly conduct and trespassing charges, police said.

Photos provided by police included a truck tagged in red paint with a swastika and an obscenity and car with a racial slur.

Liang is accused of vandalizing vehicles on the following dates at locations along the Avondale Boulevard corridor:

  • Jan. 27 in the parking lot of the Culver’s on Avondale Boulevard just south of Interstate 10.
  • Jan. 28 in a neighborhood near Van Buren Street and Avondale Boulevard.
  • Jan. 31 in the parking lot of La Jolla High School near Lower Buckeye Road and Avondale Boulevard.
  • Jan. 31 in a neighborhood near Buckeye Road and Avondale Boulevard.
