Avondale police arrest man connected to 5 robberies around metro Phoenix

PHOENIX — Avondale police on Saturday arrested a 46-year-old man connected to five robberies around metro Phoenix in the past month, authorities said.
Jimmy Girdner was taken into custody after robbing an Alberston’s near Indian School and Dysart roads in Litchfield Park and a Walgreens on the corner of 107th Avenue and Indian School Road, the Avondale Police Department said in a press release Monday.
The man was also connected to robberies at a Starbucks in Avondale on Jan. 14, a Walmart in Glendale on Jan. 20 and a Bashas’ in Phoenix on Friday, authorities said, equaling a total of more than $10,000 in cash value.
Girdner was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on multiple counts of robbery, money laundering and trafficking stolen property, authorities said.
Avondale police worked with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and Glendale Police on the investigation and arrest of Girdner.
