PHOENIX — Navajo Nation and Hard Rock have teamed up for the latest mobile sportsbook option in Arizona.

The Hard Rock Sportsbook mobile app was announced Thursday. A launch date for the app in the state, which has had legalized sports gambling since September, has yet to be confirmed.

“Mobile sports and event wagering is an important new offering that we’re excited to introduce,” Brian Parrish, interim CEO for the Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise, said in a press release.

“The Hard Rock Sportsbook mobile sports wagering platform and our brick and mortar operations will offer a broad range of wagers, marketing promotions and cross-marketing offers that will be unique to the Navajo and Hard Rock brands.”

Support for the operation includes the Navajo Nation offices of the president and vice president, and the Navajo Nation Council.

Hard Rock Digital, which launched in 2020 and is owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, has physical sportsbooks in New Jersey and Iowa and also an app in Iowa.

The tribe was offering sports betting in Florida but stopped taking bets on its app in December.

Multiple court decisions blocked an agreement between Florida and the Seminoles to allow online sports betting because it violates a federal rule requiring a person to be physically on tribal land when wagering.
