Driver dies after her car collides with large tree in west Phoenix

PHOENIX – A woman died after the car she was driving ran into a large tree in west Phoenix early Thursday, authorities said.
Shirrell Quiroz, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene around 2 a.m., the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.
A male passenger was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Quiroz was driving a sedan northbound on 83rd Avenue when it went off the road north of Indian School Road and hit the tree, police said.
The cause of the wreck is under investigation.
No other information was made available.
