PHOENIX — A free cowboy festival taking place next weekend at the new Bell Bank Park in Mesa hopes to grow Western traditions among the state’s youth with various activities and live country music.
The Mini West Fest will ride into the sports and entertainment complex located at Ellsworth and Pecos roads near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport on Saturday and last from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Among the activities featured at the festival are kids mutton busting, mechanical bull riding, mechanical calf roping, quick draw western shoot-out and appearances from rodeo queens.
Adults can enjoy giant beer pong, giant jenga, giant connect four and corn hole, according to the website.
Nick Moody, Josh Roy and Western Fusion Band provide the tunes throughout the festival.
The event follows Arizona-raised Lindsey Stirling performing Bell Bank Park’s first concert on Friday night.
Jurrasic Quest will also be taking place at the venue on the same weekend, featuring more than 100 life-size animatronic dinosaurs with ticket prices ranging from $19 to $38.
