PHOENIX — The body of a missing 37-year-old Phoenix woman was found in a western Arizona county and her boyfriend is set to face charges in her death, authorities said Thursday.

Irene Luevano was found Thursday in a remote area of La Paz County with obvious signs of trauma, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Luevano had last been seen Saturday with her boyfriend, Jorge Quintero Lara, on Saturday at a bar near 27th Avenue and Camelback Road.

Authorities teamed up in search of Luevano after she contacted her family at 4 a.m. on Sunday and told them she was stabbed in the neck by her boyfriend, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The duo’s car, a gray four-door 2007 Chevy Impala, was later located near 107th Avenue and Buckeye Road.

Lara was found at a hospital, where medical staff said he had stab wounds that appeared to be self-inflicted, authorities said.

Lara has been in the Maricopa County Jail for several days on unrelated charges, according to police.

He is set to be charged with murder in Luevano’s death, police said.

Police on Friday announced a second arrest in the case. Diego Rodriguez Teran, 24, was booked for hindering prosecution.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
