PHOENIX – Work on a yearlong, $20.3 million project to expand Loop 303 in the northwest Valley wrapped up Thursday, authorities said.
The process started in December 2020 and officially ended with the opening of a new interchange at Jomax Parkway, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
In a separate project, the city of Peoria finished construction on Jomax between Loop 303 and Vistancia Boulevard on Wednesday night.
The 6-mile stretch of Loop 303 between Happy Valley and Lake Pleasant parkways in Peoria was expanded from two lanes to three lanes in each direction during the project, which included new freeway bridges over the Jomax interchange and Beardsley Canal.
The Loop 303 project was funded by Proposition 400, the half-cent sales tax for regional transportation approved by Maricopa County voters in 2004, as part of the Maricopa Association of Governments’ Regional Transportation Plan.
