Silver Alert canceled after 72-year-old man who left from Goodyear hospital found safe

PHOENIX – A Silver Alert was canceled Thursday night after a 72-year-old man who left a Goodyear hospital was found safe, authorities said.

Percy Mercado was in the process of being reunited with his family after being located in Phoenix, the Goodyear Police Department said in a press release.

Mercado went missing Wednesday around 4:40 a.m. from Abrazo Hospital West Valley, where he’d been taken by ambulance. No one knows how he left, police said.

He was last seen in Phoenix near Central Avenue and Broadway Road around 8 a.m.

Mercado has been diagnosed with dementia and asthma.
