Rep. Andy Biggs thinks Donald Trump will run for president in 2024

Jan 12, 2022, 11:43 AM

PHOENIX – U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs said Wednesday he thinks Donald Trump, who is holding a rally in Arizona this weekend, will attempt to reclaim the presidency in 2024.

“He’s never told me this, but I personally think he’s going to run for president if his health allows it,” the East Valley Republican and fervent Trump supporter told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s The Mike Broomhead Show.

“I think that’s the case. I don’t know that that’s the case, but I think that’s the case.”

Trump hasn’t revealed whether he plans to run for office again, but he’s held multiple rallies since leaving office a year ago and continues to wield considerable power within the Republican party.

Saturday’s event at the Country Thunder music festival grounds in Florence, about 60 miles southeast of Phoenix, will be Trump’s first rally of the new year. His last Arizona appearance was July 24, 2021, in Phoenix.

Biggs, who is among those scheduled to speak during the rally, said Trump “loves the state of Arizona, loves to be in Arizona.”

“It’s kind of a center point in the state,” Biggs said of the Florence site. “It’s a big venue and it’s an open-air venue, and he loves the open-air venues.”

In addition to Biggs, the guest speaker list includes fellow GOP Reps. Debbie Lesko and Paul Gosar as well as gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake.

Gates open at 8 a.m. and doors open at 2 p.m. The program is set to begin at 4:30 p.m., with Trump scheduled to hit the stage at 7 p.m.

Biggs said he doesn’t know how large of a crowd is expected, “but I do know that my office has been overrun with people requesting how they get tickets to see President Trump.”

Free general admission tickets are available online on a first-come, first-serve basis.
