PHOENIX — Fulfilling New Year’s resolutions is hard for some people, but a personal finance website said an East Valley city is the best place in the country to help keep those goals on track.
WalletHub, realizing a person’s location may be just as important as willpower for fulfilling New Year’s resolutions, compared the most populated U.S. cities on a number of dimensions related to various resolutions and found the easiest city in the country to keep those new year goals is Scottsdale.
The dimensions used to measure the cities were health resolutions, financial resolutions, school and work resolutions, bad-habit resolutions, and relationship resolutions.
Scottsdale was ranked No. 1 in school and work resolutions, while also placing No. 6 for both health resolutions and financial resolutions.
Among those dimensions were metrics, with Scottsdale placing high in multiple financial resolution indicators. This includes being tied for No. 1 with the highest median annual income when adjusted for cost of living, as well as tieing for the top spot in having the lowest unemployment rate. The East Valley city also had the fifth-highest median credit score.
Scottsdale was also tied with four other cities in having the most parkland acres per capita, key for health resolutions.
Chandler wasn’t far behind at No. 20 overall, followed by Tempe (No. 22), Gilbert (No. 28), Phoenix (No. 43), Peoria (No. 44), Mesa (No. 72), Glendale (No. 73) and Tucson (No. 79).
The hardest city in the country to keep New Year’s goals was determined to be Newark, New Jersey.
Those who have a hard time meeting their new year goals aren’t alone as a recent study conducted by WalletHub found more than seven in 10 people admit they failed to keep their resolutions in the past.
