PHOENIX — A Phoenix police motorcycle officer was hospitalized after being injured in a hit-and-run collision early Monday, authorities said.

Police said the crash happened at about 12:30 a.m. when an officer was traveling east on Bethany Home Road and was hit by a dark-colored minivan turning left at 26th Avenue.

The officer received a serious leg injury and required immediate surgery, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.

Surveillance video obtained by ABC15 showed the minivan turning in front of the motorcycle officer, stopping briefly after the impact and then driving off.

The identity of the officer wasn’t released.
