PHOENIX — If you’re looking to start the new year in a collaborative and healthy way, then tagging along for a hike on an Arizona trail may be the way to go.

As part of a national partnership including all 50 state park systems to get people outdoors and active, numerous Arizona trails and parks will be joining the guided “First Day Hikes” on Jan. 1.

The event will allow for participants to hike, tour or ride by boat, according to a press release.

All hikes are part of theEight4Two Challenge from Arizona State Parks and Trails.

The challenge, which kicked off Nov. 16 and runs through Jan. 17, calls for people to hike, walk or bike eight different trails in at least four different state parks.

Those who complete the challenge and upload their progress online will receive two day-use passes good for up to four people.

More information on the various parks participating in First Day Hikes, including location, difficulty and length, can be found online.

We want to hear from you.
