PHOENIX — A fugitive wanted for shooting at a police officer in California was arrested in Buckeye late Tuesday, authorities said.
Juan Carlos Vazquez, 38, was booked into jail pending extradition to California, the Buckeye Police Department said in a press release.
Officers said Vasquez shot at a San Fernando officer in Angeles National Forest on Nov. 8.
Buckeye police and the U.S. Marshals Service found Vasquez, along with three others, sitting in a parked car around 5:30 p.m. at a truck stop on Miller Road, south of Interstate 10, police said.
Officers took Vasquez into custody and recovered an AR-15 rifle from the car, police said.
The three other passengers, who have not been identified, were arrested on charges ranging from drug possession to felony warrants, police said.
