PHOENIX — A fire inside a Phoenix scrap yard Tuesday afternoon had smoke visible for miles.
The Phoenix Fire Department said around 4 p.m. that firefighters had made significant progress toward suppressing the fire located near Van Buren Street and 27th Avenue.
Crews were dispatched to the location after an employee found smoke and fire inside a stack of crushed cars toward the rear of the business, officials said.
Ladder pipes were still extended and working toward extinguishing the remaining flames.
