Coroner ID’s Arizona man who died in Laughlin cliff jump

LAUGHLIN, Nev. (AP) — Authorities have identified a 29-year-old Arizona man who died during a cliff jump on the Colorado river near Laughlin.
KSNV-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1fdS0r2 ) that Jose Onofre Molina Jr., of Mohave Valley, Arizona, died Sunday morning when he jumped off a cliff on Pipeline Beach, which is south of the Big Bend State Recreation area and closed to the public. Metro Police say instead of hitting the water he hit the ground.
Police say the Molina Jr. was drinking at the time of his jump. He did a swan dive and hit the ground head first.
Park rangers say the depths of the Colorado River vary from hour to hour, making the cliff Molina Jr. jumped from very dangerous. When Molina Jr. jumped, the river was at its lowest point.
