This show is both a tribute to Grant Woods and an opportunity to hear him weigh in on our troubled political system one last time.

The show we are repeating was taped just after the 2020 election but before the Jan. 6 insurrection.

I relistened to the full show, and it immediately struck me how timely everything he had to say remains timely almost a year later.

I did not know Grant Woods very well personally, but I knew him well enough to respect his ideas and to instinctively like him. He was, among other things, a true Renaissance man.

During the commercial breaks in this show, I usually continue talking with our guests about whatever we’ve been discussing in the preceding segment. The last time Woods was here, during the breaks we talked about music, musical composition and arranging, not politics. He had diverse interests.

Listen to what Woods had to say then and it is clear how well he understood our national political predicament.
And why we will all miss hearing his voice.

Godspeed, Grant Woods.

The Think Tank airs on KTAR 92.3 FM on Saturday 6-7 p.m. and Sunday 9-10 p.m.
