PHOENIX – Taking another step in its mission to increase services for West Valley communities, Phoenix Children’s broke ground Tuesday on a new campus in Glendale.
Phoenix Children’s Hospital – Arrowhead Campus will include a three-story, 180,000-square-foot freestanding hospital and a 45,000-square-foot clinic with services in more than 25 specialties when it opens in spring 2024.
“We will offer inpatient services — this is a full-service children’s hospital — an emergency department, state-of-the-art imaging and … full surgical schedules and services,” Robert Meyer, Phoenix Children’s president and CEO, said during the groundbreaking ceremony.
The $135 million facility is being built at 67th Avenue and Union Hills Drive on the north end of the Abrazo Arrowhead Campus and is expected to create nearly 500 jobs.

“This campus is going to make a real difference for families whose children need and deserve high-quality pediatric-specific health care,” Meyer said.
It’s the third West Valley project in the works for Phoenix Children’s, which is investing nearly $200 million for new facilities in the fast-growing region.
The Phoenix Children’s Sports Medicine Clinic is expected to open later this year near Avondale Boulevard and Van Buren Street in Avondale’s The BLVD development.
In June, the pediatric health care network broke ground on a freestanding emergency department and multi-specialty clinic in Avondale. The Southwest Campus, as it’s been named, is scheduled to open by the spring of 2023 on the site of Phoenix Children’s existing operations at Avondale Boulevard and McDowell Road.
