Two dead after vehicle crashes into pole, set ablaze in Mesa

PHOENIX — Two people have died after a vehicle caught fire after it crashed into a pole in Mesa Sunday morning, authorities said.

Mesa police said a single vehicle was in a neighborhood southeast of Loop 101 and Broadway Road traveling westbound on 8th Avenue with it hit a curb at South El Dorado, causing it to crash into a pole.

The vehicle was set ablaze and two people were found dead inside, police said.

Authorities also added the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The deceased haven’t been identified.

No additional information was available.
