Closures on several Valley freeways to hinder drivers this weekend

PHOENIX — Drivers will face closures on sections of several Valley freeways this weekend.

In north Phoenix, southbound Interstate 17 will be closed between Arizona State Route 74/Carefree Highway and Happy Valley Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Saturday for pavement sealing, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Southbound I-17 on-ramps at Daisy Mountain Drive and Pioneer Road are also set to be closed as part of the project.

The northbound lanes of the highway will then be closed between Happy Valley Road and Arizona State Route 74/Carefree Highway from 9 p.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday for pavement sealing.

The project will also force the closure of the northbound I-17 on-ramps at Deer Valley and Pinnacle Peak roads.

Also in north Phoenix, the eastbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway is scheduled to be closed between Seventh Street and State Route 51 from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project.

Both I-17 ramps to eastbound Loop 101 and the eastbound Loop 101 on-ramps at 27th, 19th and Seventh avenues will be closed.

In the East Valley, the eastbound U.S. 60 Superstition Freeway will be closed between Gilbert and Greenfield roads from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for asphalt pavement removal.

Eastbound U.S. 60 on-ramps at Mesa and Stapley drives are also set to be closed for the project.

In the southeast Valley, the westbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway will be closed between Val Vista Drive and Gilbert Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for work on the new Lindsay Road interchange project.

Westbound Loop 202 on-ramps at Williams Field Road and Santan Village Parkway are also set to be closed.

Near Sky Harbor Airport, the westbound Interstate 10 ramp to northbound State Route 143 is set to be closed from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday for the Broadway Curve Project.

State Route 143 will also be narrowed to one lane in both directions in areas between I-10 and Sky Harbor Boulevard on Saturday, then narrowed to one lane in both directions in areas between I-10 and Sky Harbor Boulevard from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Northbound 48th Street will also be closed between Broadway Road and I-10 on Sunday.

In Buckeye, I-10 is scheduled to be narrowed to one lane in both directions in areas between Verrado Way and State Route 85 from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday and from 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday for widening project.
