ASU and Banner Health to launch on-campus disease research center
PHOENIX — Arizona State University and Banner Health announced Wednesday a partnership to launch a disease research center on ASU’s Tempe, Arizona campus.
The new Arizona State University-Banner Neurodegenerative Disease Research Center will study the treatment and prevention of Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative diseases.
ASU will invite six scientists from Banner Sun Health Research Institute to Tempe campus where they will have access to state-of-the-art services to further research.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to work together to build one of the world’s largest basic science centers,” Eric Reiman, executive director of the Banner Alzheimer’s Institute, said.
Over five million Americans suffer from Alzheimer’s.
The center will open July 1.
