PHOENIX – A semi-truck overturned on a Phoenix freeway overpass Tuesday morning, causing off-ramp and surface street closures, authorities said.
The truck filled with paper products rolled while turning onto Greenway Road above State Route 51, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
At around 9:45 a.m., DPS said the northbound S.R. 51 off-ramp at Greenway and Greenway’s eastbound lanes will remain closed for several hours while crews work to unload the trailer and removed the semi from the overpass. Motorists could still head east after exiting S.R. 51 at Greenway.
The driver, who wasn’t injured, was cited for failure to control his vehicle due to speed, DPS said.
