Woman dies of medical issue during hike on Scottsdale trail

PHOENIX – A woman hiking a Scottsdale trail suffered a medical emergency and died Sunday, authorities said.

A Scottsdale Police Department spokesman said emergency crews were called to Lost Dog Wash Trailhead at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve to aid a hiker in trouble.

Despite efforts from first responders with the Scottsdale Fire Department, the woman in her 40s died, police said, adding there were no signs of foul play.

Cause of death will be determined by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The hiker’s name has not been released and no other details were made available.
